We’re thrilled to introduce our new weekly series #WomenWednesdays, here on our LFA blog, highlighting the power, vision and genius of women in film, throughout history. As a women-led film school, founded by our passionate and forward-thinking principals Anna MacDonald and Daisy Gili, we're incredibly dedicated to bridging the gender gap and highlighting and engaging with meaningful conversations - with our counterparts, industry professionals and our students - about gender representation and equality within this competitive, ever evolving community.
Core to our fundamental values, we continually strive to remain inclusive, diverse and supportive of individuals from all walks of life. The film industry is a tough one to crack; we’ve continued to make it part of our school’s mission to take proactive steps towards dynamic participation and facilitating access for under-represented filmmakers.
In 2019 our principals launched the LFA Pioneer’s Award, a scholarship, which offers a fully funded place for a talented female studying on one of our postgraduate or undergraduate courses each year, to further develop our commitment to championing female filmmakers. The scholarship is designed to support a promising filmmaker who might otherwise, due to financial constraints, not be able to access training.
